Gun Park Project

Soldiers conduct the Australia Day 21 Gun Salute on the Esplanade in Darwin.

A 21 Gun Salute was conducted by twenty two soldiers of Darwin’s 103rd Medium Battery, 8th/12th Medium Regiment, Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery using four M2A2 105mm Howitzer Guns. These weapons are the Regiment’s Ceremonial Guns as they are no longer used by Australian Regular Army units.

In the latter half of 2012, FLHA obtained a grant to enhance the presentation of the existing display in the Gun Park. The work included extending and concreting the Gun Park as well as sandblasting and painting the guns. The project was completed in December 2014, just in time to house our latest artillery exhibit, an M2A2 Howitzer that saw service in Vietnam.
