Fort Lytton Historic Military Precinct is located in Fort Lytton National Park in the Brisbane suburb of Lytton, about 14km from Brisbane’s CBD.
The best way to find us is to take the Lytton/Wynnum exit from the Port of Brisbane Motorway, then follow the brown “Tourism” signs to Fort Lytton National Park.
There is plenty of parking and free of charge.

Fort Lytton is Closed on public holidays unless otherwise stated in our upcoming events
Please Note
- We recommend you always check this website for any updates before visiting Fort Lytton.
- The National Park gate closes at 4pm, all visitors must exit the site before then.

During your Visit
Guided Tours
Fort Lytton offers Guided tours, However these are subject to weather and guide availability. The Tours start at 10:30, 11:30, 12:45, and 1:45.
Self-Guided Tours are encouraged and Free maps are available
Access
Accessible toilets are readily available, but the grass pathways used for sections of the guided tours may make the use of wheelchairs or strollers difficult.
Food & Drink
The Fort Lytton Visitors Centre offers both hot and cold beverages, and accepts both cash and EFTPOS. The visitors centre offers small goods, such as packets of chips or biscuits, please note we do not serve any meals.
While open fires are not permitted, you may bring a gas stop for cooking,
Cloaking
Fort Lytton does not offer any cloaking or storage of personal items
Conditions of Entry
Fort Lytton is a National Park and therefore,
- Pets are not permitted anywhere with in the Park or Military Precinct
- No Smoking on national park grounds
- All Visitors must exit the park by 4pm
